For the Trade: A Leak Detection Specialist You Can Call In

Every trade that deals with water gets the same frustrating job now and then: you are called out to a problem, and it turns out not to be your problem. The waterproofer who finds the damp is coming from a pipe. The pool company losing a day of building to chase a leak in a pool they did not install. The plumber staring at a spinning meter with nothing visible to work with.

That is where I come in. I am a leak detection specialist. Finding hidden leaks precisely is the whole of what I do, and I work alongside other trades rather than against them.

How I work with the trade

I find leaks. I locate them precisely, with the right equipment, and I document them. What happens next is your work, not mine, and I am happy to fit around however you like to run a job.

The point is simple: you bring me in to answer the question "where exactly is this, and is it even my kind of problem," and once that is answered you get on with what you do best. I complement your work. I am not trying to do it for you.

For plumbers

When a job stops being a plumbing job and becomes a guessing game - the leak is under a slab, behind a wall, or out in the yard with nothing on the surface - you can open the most likely spot and hope, or you can call me to pinpoint it first. I find it, you fix it, your customer sees you solve something that had them stuck.

To do this yourself you would need trace gas, acoustic equipment, thermal imaging, pressure testing gear and a drain camera, plus the hours behind them. I use that kit every day. Calling me in beats owning equipment that would sit in your van most of the week.

For waterproofing companies

You get called for damp and water damage, and a good share of it is not actually a waterproofing problem, it is a plumbing leak wearing a waterproofing disguise. Waterproof it and the leak carries on.

I can test which it is before you commit. If it is ingress, you know the waterproofing is the right fix. If it is a pipe, I have found it, and you have not spent a day, or a customer's money, sealing something that was never going to hold. Either way you look thorough, because you brought in a specialist rather than guessing.

For pool companies

A pool losing water might be a leak or it might be evaporation, and finding out can cost you a day you would rather spend building. You do not have to stop work to chase it. Bring me in, I test the pool and tell you what is actually going on - return line, suction line, shell, fitting, or nothing at all - and you keep working.
